SLASH TALKS ABOUT DUFF PLAYING WITH GN’R
Posted: Oct 29, 2010
Last month in London, former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan played with his old band, including Axl Rose, for the first time in 17 years. It all happened because Duff was staying at the same hotel as Axl and ran into each other. McKagan then wrote to his buddy and fellow GN’R alum Slash to tell him about the encounter and Slash filled us in on what it was like to get that letter.
“I was in Hawaii and I got this email from Duff saying that he checked into a hotel and Axl’s next door so we had a little bit of a laugh about that, the irony. And then at some point, they ended up hooking up and I guess he went down to the venue with Axl and hung out with the band and went over some songs and went up and played. I was like, ‘Cool.’ I don’t think I can do it, you know.”
So could something like this ever happen with Slash? Probably not, but time might be healing wounds – or at least making them hard to remember, as the rocker explained to us.
“What I thought was funny about the whole thing is it was still an hour late. As soon as that hour came, I would’ve been out of there. But it’s all good. I think really, the biggest issues with the whole Guns thing is just between Axl and I. Actually, to tell you the truth, maybe it’s just been so long I forgot. I can’t understand specifically what makes me different than the other guys in the band. I’m not really sure about that one.”
In the meantime, Slash is promoting the deluxe version of his latest self-titled solo album. It boasts bonus songs, demo tracks, behind-the-scenes footage, videos, a making-of documentary and an interview with Slash. Pick it up today.

I don’t know what paths they chose but they had a good thing going. Tempers flair etc and life does go on.

I do not dislike any one from any GNR lineup.
