ANDERSON TALKS ABOUT WORKING WITH WAKEMAN
Posted: Nov 30, 2010
Former Yes singer Jon Anderson recently wrapped up a U-K tour with fellow ex-Yes member, keyboardist Rick Wakeman. The two played new songs and old on the road and Jon described what the experience was like.
“Working with Rick is so powerful and funny and crazy and silly and beautiful at the same time.”
The new songs Jon and Rick played are from their upcoming joint album, The Living Tree. While the pair created the record together, they weren’t together physically when they did it. Jon explained how it worked.
“Rick started sending me music and as it happens, I have a studio on my laptop so I would sing the songs in hotel rooms and Rick’s music was just perfect for my voice. I’d sing ideas and send them back to him and then he’d send information back saying, ‘That’s beautiful, can we edit this out, we need another chorus or whatever,’ and that’s how we made the album.”
Hear what Jon and Rick came up with by picking up The Living Tree. It’s out on January 11th. Meanwhile, in the spring, a live album from Jon and Rick’s U-K tour is due out too. Stay up to date at JonAnderson.com.
