Meet Vh1 Classic Rock Nights host Eddie Webb. Webb began his radio career at 15 in a small town in Iowa. He has worked for Skid Row, Guns N' Roses and most recently for Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's Ozzfest where he ran the VIP program for the tour.

In 1970Led Zeppelin walked off stage during a Pittsburgh gig and said they wouldn’t play until the police stopped intimidating their audience. Ten minutes later they resumed the show.

 

In 1961…In Hawaii, a resolution was passed “expressing gratitude and appreciation to Elvis Presley and Colonel Tom Parker… for their services in helping to raise the funds for the U-S-S Arizona.”

 

In 1966…85 people were arrested at a Rolling Stones concert in Paris.

 

In 1967…The cover for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was photographed at a studio in London’s Flood Street, using cardboard cutouts and wax figures to represent The Beatles’ heroes, including depictions of Edgar Allan Poe, Lenny Bruce, Vidal Sassoon, Laurel and Hardy and Bob Dylan.

 

In 1968…In London, David Bowie made his debut with the Lindsay Kemp mime troupe in Pierrot in Turquoise.

 

In 1974The Ramones played their first gig. The show was at New York’s Performance Studio.

 

In 1975Jeff Beck released his first solo album, titled Blow by Blow.

 

In 1976The Sex Pistols played their first gig at London’s 100 Club.

 

In 1977The EaglesHotel California went to the number-one spot on the album chart.

 

In 1978Paul Simonon and Topper Headon of The Clash were arrested for shooting pigeons.

 

In 1978U2 won 500 pounds and a CBS audition in a Guinness talent contest in Limerick, Ireland.

 

In 1981U2 demanded cash for a concert in Lubbock, Texas, at which point the club owner pulled out a gun and told them they would take a check like everyone else.

 

In 1994Pink Floyd released their album The Division Bell. 

 

In 2004Guns N’ Roses pulled out of the Rock in Rio – Lisbon festival after the sudden departure of guitarist Buckethead.

  

In 2006…A man was removed from a flight to London on suspicion of terrorism after a taxi driver reported he was listening to The Clash’s “London’s Burning” and Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” on his way to the airport. Harraj Mann was released without charge.
