In 1968…Deep Purple made their live debut in Tastrup, Denmark.
In 1968…Trying to drum up business, The Beatles’ Apple Records invited the public to send demos to the label’s London offices.
In 1976…George Harrison joined Monty Python on stage and sang “The Lumberjack Song.”
In 1976…The Rolling Stones finally released their long-awaited album Black and Blue.
In 1981…John Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas pleaded guilty to charges of drug pushing. He spent 30 days in prison and was made to do 250 hours of community service.
In 1987…In Rhode Island, police considered charging a youth who was said to have bitten the head off a gerbil in tribute to Ozzy Osbourne.
In 1991…Bruce Hornsby, Willie Nelson, Rosanne Cash, Jackson Brown, 10,000 Maniacs, Queen Latifah and The Indigo Girls played a concert in Massachusetts to celebrate Earth Day.
