LENNON’S ANGRY LETTER
Posted: May 31, 2011
In 1971, an article ran in the New York Times, accusing white bands like The Beatles of ripping off black music without even a nod to the original artists, many of whom were struggling. When John Lennon read the piece, he got mad and went on to pen an angry letter while he was on a plane. The mid-flight missive, written on American Airlines stationary, recently sold at auction for nearly 20-thousand dollars and you can now read it online. In the note, the singer defends his band and says they always promoted blues and R&B artists. See the handwritten letter at LettersOfNote.com.
