DO YES STILL HAVE ALBUM RELEASE PARTIES?
Posted: Nov 28, 2011
Tomorrow (11/29), Yes will put out a new album called In The Present – Live from Lyon. The 2CD/DVD package features the group’s 2009 performance in Lyon, France where they play some of their greatest hits. So will the band be celebrating the record’s release? Guitarist Chris Squire and keyboardist Geoff Downes filled us in.
(Cut #) “[Chris Squire] In the old days, you used to have the playback party for the record company and that but it doesn’t seem to be… [Geoff Downes] The industry’s changed a lot since those days – the sort of excesses of record companies and things like that don’t exist anymore because it’s run by a totally different set of people. In those days, it was run by public schoolboys-turned-music fans, whereas now, companies are run by accountants and banks. It’s not the same kind of devil-may-care, party attitude that it was when we were making albums to start with. [Chris Squire] Or maybe we’ve just been doing it too long and people think, ‘Oh they don’t want to party anymore.’ (laughs)”
You can have your own party after picking up In The Present – Live From Lyon. It’s on shelves tomorrow.
